This Week in Ram Athletics: Feb. 13-Feb. 19

Men’s Basketball

Last Week: The Rams (16-7, 11-3 CACC) secured a spot in the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournament after going 2-1 last week. Philadelphia picked up a home win against Chestnut Hill on Tuesday and went on the road to knock off Dominican (N.Y.) on Saturday. The Rams were defeated by Goldey-Beacom on Thursday night.

This Week: Philadelphia will play its final two regular season home games against the University of the Sciences on Feb. 16 and Felician on Feb. 18. Before Thursday’s game, Philadelphia University will honor Hall of Fame head coach Herb Magee by unveiling a bust of Magee.

Need to Know: Against Goldey-Beacom guard Jim Connolly became the 46th men’s basketball player to score 1,000 career points. He is the first men’s player to accomplish the feat since the 2008-09 season.

Women’s Basketball

Last Week: The Lady Rams (19-6, 13-3 CACC) posted a 2-1 record by defeating Chestnut Hill at home and Dominican (N.Y.) on the road. The lone blemish of the week came in an overtime defeat at Goldey-Beacom.

This Week: Philadelphia will try to secure a first-round home game for the upcoming CACC Tournament with home games against the University of the Sciences on Thursday and Felician on Saturday. The Lady Rams’ magic number for getting a home game is two.

Need to Know: With one more victory the Lady Rams will post its 17th 20-win season under head coach Tom Shirley, and the first the 2008-09 season (21-10).
