PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University department of athletics and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) collected 391 pounds of canned goods for the 93.3 WMMR Preston & Steve Camp Out for Hunger, a canned food drive that benefits Philabundance.
The 391 pounds of canned goods is a 10-pound increase from last year's total of 381 and 160 pounds better than 2014—which was the first year that PhilaU athletics and SAAC began participating in the event.
The department and SAAC began a two-week collection period for the canned good and non-perishable items on Nov. 16. On Dec. 2, the canned goods were delivered to the Camp Out for Hunger site at Xfinity Live! in South Philadelphia.
