Philadelphia University's Retired Jersey Policy

Philadelphia University's Retired Jersey Policy

Philadelphia University Department of Athletics is proud to announce a new opportunity, through the retirement of athletic jerseys, to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of our former student-athletes.

Available for your review is a policy outlining the requirements for nominating a former student-athlete to have his/her jersey retired. Please be aware that the honor shall be the retirement of the former student-athlete’s jersey, not his/her number. We realize over the many decades of successes at Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science and Philadelphia University a number of former student-athletes may warrant this recognition. We now feel that this policy allows the committee members to reward individuals whose playing accomplishments deserve such considerations.

The retirement of jerseys will be held in conjunction with hall of fame ceremonies that are held in May of the even years. Therefore the first retired jersey will be in May 2014. We hope that you will consider reviewing our new policy and encourage any individuals who you deem worthy of such an honor to apply or that you take the initiative to nominate them personally.

Should you have any questions or need for clarifications please feel free to contact the Director of Athletics or Chair of the Committee and we will be happy to assist. The first committee meeting will be held in May 2013 and we look forward to reviewing a number of quality applications.

GO RAMS!
