Womens Soccer CACC Preseason Poll Released
New Haven, CT- The Philadelphia University women's soccer team has been chosen to finish second in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) preseason poll, as voted upon by the league's 12 head coaches.
The Lady Rams had a stellar season in 2007, taking the ECAC Women's Soccer crown and finishing as the runner-ups in CACC Tournament. The team returns 13 upperclassmen including senior Rebecca Kennedy who finished last season third-best on the team in points with 14 (six goals, two assists).
Senior goalkeeper Sara Hall also returns for her final year. She currently owns two school records: career wins (36) and career shutouts (21). She also ranks second all-time in school history with 292 career saves and a career goals-against-average of 0.94.
Holy Family University received seven 1st-place votes and is the preseason favorite as they return to defend the CACC title. Rounding out the top three is #3 George Court University, a team the Lady Rams defeated 1-0 in the ECAC Championship game.
Last season the Lady Rams went 15-7 overall and 10-1 in conference play.
The Lady Rams will open the season away as they travel to Shippensburg University on Friday, August 29th at 5:00 p.m.
