The Philadelphia University volleyball team returns a core of seasoned veterans in 2008 and has been forecasted to finish third in the CACC South Division, as voted on by the conference's head coaches. The Lady Rams lost only one starter from last year's squad and has been picked first in one poll and finished third with 66 total points.

The Lady Rams compiled a 15-3 conference record last season and went 22-15 overall. Wilmington University (51), University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (45), Goldey-Beacom College (28) and Chestnut Hill College (14) rounded out the South Division poll.

"We are returning all of our starters this season, and with Molly (Malone) back along with a group of four talented freshmen we should be very competitive this year," said head coach Mark Magarity.

Coach Magarity's key returners include CACC All-Second Team selection junior right side hitter Nicole Birkstresser and All-CACC Honorable Mention junior outside hitter Celena Rendon.  Senior middle hitter Malone- an injury redshirt last season, returns to lead Phila U.  The squad had their 2007 season cut short in postseason play, falling to Holy Family 3-2 in the CACC quarterfinals.

Other key returns for the Lady Rams include: seniors Lindsey Butler and Katie Miller, juniors Celena Rendon, Cindy Adams, Natalie Amodei and sophomores Lauren Hoover and Angela Zingale.  The freshmen class includes: Emma Claffy, Eva Costanza, Julie Niblock and Rebekah Waybrant

The Lady Rams will open the 2008 season at home on Wednesday, September 3rd vs. Kutztown University at 7:00 p.m.
