Chris Lorenzo (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep) turned a Matthew McGee (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) lead-off triple into the Rams' third run as he lofted a sacrifice fly to right to bring McGee home and make the score 3-0 after two.
Wilmington (20-13) scored once in the third to cut the Philadelphia lead to two and then went in front an inning later with a three-run fourth. Kendall Small gave the Wildcats the lead with a three-run home run.
With the score sitting at 5-4 after the teams traded single runs in the fifth, Wilmington plated six runs during the sixth inning to widen the gap to 11-4. Goetz hit a RBI double and Brandon Quaranta (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) added a sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the inning to close within 11-6.
The Wildcats tacked on four more runs in the top of the seventh, two on a Jesse Long one-out double, to go up 15-6. Philadelphia got two runs back in the last of the seventh on a McGee walk and a Goetz RBI base hit.
Dan Klusman (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth), Wells, McGee, and Goetz all had two hits for the Rams. Wilmington's Mike Annone and Julian Kurych both went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Small finished with four RBI.
After game two went scoreless through three innings, Wilmington scored four runs in the fourth and seventh in the fifth. Long hit a three-run home run in the fourth and Lance Gilbert had three RBI over the two innings.
Goetz broke up the shutout with a solo home run to start the sixth inning. It was Goetz's fourth home run of the season. Philadelphia added three more runs in the seventh. McTaggart singled with the bases loaded to plate Quaranta, who walked to start the frame. Then, Goetz contributed a RBI fielder's choice. David Saenz (Corpus Christi, Texas/Foy H. Moody) recorded his first collegiate RBI as he hit an infield single with one out to bring home Wells from third.
