Field Hockey Defeated in First Joshua W. Wesner Game

Kutztown, PA- Sophomore forward Megan Stefanides (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Valley West) had her first goal of the season, but that would be the only score for the Philadelphia University Lady Rams (0-3), falling 4-1 to the Kutztown University Golden Bears (1-1) in the Joshua W. Wesner Memorial Tournament.

The Golden Bears took an early 2-0 just 11 minutes into play.

Stefanides cut the lead to 2-1 when she received a pass from junior forward Lauren Piontkowski (Haddon Heights, N.J./Haddon Heights) and beat the Kutztown keeper.

Kutztown put the game away in the second stanza with two more goals, and the Lady Rams could not generate anymore scores.

Phila U. senior keeper Anne Strobel (Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug) had 19 saves in a complete game for the Lady Rams.

The Lady Rams face Catawba at 7:00 p.m. tonight and Bellarmine on Saturday, September 6^th at 8:00 a.m.
