Ram Roundup: Rowing, Cross Country and Basketball Honors; Plus NACMA Award
It was has turned into a banner month of Philadelphia University sporting accomplishments, the Department of Athletics has some exciting news to announce surrounding the women's rowing team, the men's cross country program and sophomore men's basketball standout Malcolm Ingram. In addition, the department recently was awarded a $500.00 grant from the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) as part of the NCAA Division II community engagement initiative.

Sophomore Malcolm Ingram Tabbed NABC Division II Northeast All-District
Philadelphia University sophomore Malcolm Ingram was selected to the 2008 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Northeast All-District team today, in an announcement made by the organization. A forward, Ingram earned second-team accolades after helping the Rams to a second consecutive berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Rams Fall in Quadruple Overtime to Saint Rose in NCAA Opener
The Philadelphia University men's basketball team was eliminated from the 2008 NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon, falling in quadruple overtime to third-seeded College of Saint Rose, 85-75, in Waltham, Mass. The four overtimes marks just the third time in NCAA Division II Tournament history that a game has gone that far and is the first since 1983 when Sacred Heart defeated Assumption College, 113-108.
The Rams jumped out to a quick 11-7 lead on a three-pointer from sophomore point guard Russell Frederick and held a 23-19 margin with 5:42 remaining in the opening half. However, the Golden Knights tied the score at 26-26 with 56 seconds remaining and after a pair of free throws from sophomore guard Marcus Lemon handed the lead back to Philadelphia University, senior guard Steve Dagostino converted a four-point play with 1.5 seconds left as Saint Rose took a 30-28 lead in the half.

The 2008 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Northeast Regional, being played at Bentley College in Waltham, Mass. from Saturday through Tuesday, will be webcast on Northeast-10 TV (www.ne10.tv/). There will be a limit to the number of viewers permitted to watch the games, so fans planning to watch are encouraged to sign up early.

Malcolm Ingram Tabbed Second-Team Regional All-America
Sophomore forward Malcolm Ingram was named to the 2008 Daktronics Division II Northeast All-Region team today, in voting done by the regions Sports Information Directors. Ingram was named to the second team and the recognition marks the fifth consecutive year the Rams have had a player voted to the All-Region team with Ingram joining Christian Burns (2007) and Tayron Thomas (2004-06).

Rams Earn #6 Seed in Upcoming NCAA Division II Northeast Regional
The Philadelphia University men's basketball team was named the #6 seed for the upcoming NCAA Division II Tournament. Head Coach Herb Magee's squad, which brings a 22-11 overall record into the Northeast Regional, will meet third-seeded College of Saint Rose in the opening round at noon on Saturday, March 15th, on the campus of Bentley College in Waltham, Mass.
The Rams earned the bid by winning the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament, taking a 73-67 double-overtime decision from Holy Family University on March 8th. The victory over the Tigers was the tenth straight for the Rams and the 16th in the past 17 games.

Frederick Leads Rams Past University of the Sciences in CACC Quarterfinal Action
Sophomore point guard Russell Frederick registered a game-high 20 points and dished out five assists, leading the Philadelphia University mens basketball team to a 65-44 win over the University of the Sciences in the quarterfinals of the 2008 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament. The win improves the Rams to 20-11 overall as they advance to the semifinals and will host Bloomfield College on Wednesday, March 5th at 7:00 p.m.
Fellow sophomore Malcolm Ingram added 14 points and seven boards for Philadelphia University, which has won a season-high eight straight games. Sophomore guard Marcus Lemon added 11 points and seven rebounds off the bench for the Rams, which also got ten points and nine rebounds from sophomore center Mike Yocum. The Devils, who end the season with a 13-15 overall record, were led by senior forward Keith Dundas with 15 points.

PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY EARNS TOP SEED IN SOUTH FOR CACC MEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
Philadelphia University has garnered the top seed in the South Division and Post University will serve as the No. 1 seed in the North Division for the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Tournament. Four teams from each division qualified for the tournament, which will begin on campus sites on Saturday, March 1.

Three members of the Philadelphia University mens basketball team were named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) All-Conference team while Rams Head Coach Herb Magee was selected as the conference Coach of the Year, in voting done by the leagues coaches. Sophomore forward Malcolm Ingram, senior forward Jason Hickenbottom and sophomore point guard Russell Frederick, along with Magee, were recognized for their respective efforts in leading the Rams to an 18-11 overall record including a perfect 15-0 mark in the CACC.

Sophomore Duo of Frederick, Ingram Guide Rams to Road Win
Sophomores Malcolm Ingram and Russell Frederick scored 23 points and 20 points, respectively, leading Philadelphia University to an important 57-52 win at the University of the Sciences in men's basketball action on Tuesday night. The triumph, fthe fifth straight and the 11th in 12 contests for the Rams, improves them to 17-11 overall and a perfect 14-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).
Ingram also added ten rebounds for Head Coach Herb Magee's team, giving him a team-high 11 double-doubles on the season. The Devils, who fall to 12-14 overall and 6-9 in the league, were paced by Keith Dundas with 17 points.

Men's basketball Head Coach Herb Magee' 63 and women's basketball Head Coach/Director of Athletics Tom Shirley have now combined for 1,401 all-time wins in their remarkable careers at the collegiate level. Milestone win number 1,400 for the dynamic duo took place at home inside The Gallagher Center on Saturday, February 16, 2008 as Shirley's women downed Felician College by a final score of 85-53.

Ingram, Frederick Leads Rams to Thrilling Triple-Overtime Victory
Sophomores Malcolm Ingram and Russell Frederick scored career-highs, leading the Philadelphia University men's basketball team to an 81-78 triple-overtime victory at Wilmington University on Saturday afternoon in New Castle, Del. Ingram finished the contest with 32 points while Frederick poured in 24 points for the Rams, who earn their sixth consecutive win and improve to 12-10 overall and a perfect 9-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).
In addition to Ingram and Frederick, junior guard Mike Dunn found double-figure scoring, collecting 11 points while senior guard Maurice Furrowh led a balanced Wildcats' offensive attack with 20 points.

In addition to Frederick, sophomore forward Malcolm Ingram had 18 points and seven rebounds, fellow sophomore forward Marcus Lemon added 14 points and junior guard Mike Dunn contributed 12 points. The Rams up their record to 6-9 on the year, more importantly they are 4-0 in CACC play as they continue to remain atop the South Division standings. Bloomfield drops to 10-7 for the season, and they sit in fourth place in the CACC North Division with a 2-3 conference mark.
