PHILADELPHIA – Philadelphia University senior forward Brendan Kilpatrick (Norristown, Pa./Malvern Prep) was selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball defensive player of the week Monday.
Kilpatrick—the Rams' first defensive player of the week since Eric Long (Bronx, N.Y./Marianapolis Prep) took home the award on Feb. 1, 2016—averaged 6.5 defensive rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 2.0 steals in a pair of home CACC victories. Offensively, Kilpatrick added 18.5 points per game.
He started the week with a season-high seven defensive rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots in Philadelphia's 75-64 victory over Chestnut Hill on Jan. 24. In the Rams' 75-65 triumph against Dominican (N.Y.), Kilpatrick racked up six defensive rebounds, a season-best three blocks, and two steals.
Kilpatrick contributed a season-high 21 points versus the Griffins and 16 points against the Chargers.
In 10 games this season, Kilpatrick is posting 14.1 points per game on 48.6 percent shooting, 4.5 rebounds per game, 28 assists, 8 steals, and 7 blocked shots. He is ranked third on the team in scoring.
Philadelphia (14-7, 10-2 CACC) steps on the court again on Wednesday, Feb. 1 with a CACC showdown against southern division leader Goldey-Beacom at 8 p.m. in the Gallagher Center.
