Men’s and Women’s Basketball Begin Conference Play at Georgian Court with Saturday Doubleheader

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's and women's basketball teams are scheduled to kick off conference play with a doubleheader against the Georgian Court Lions on Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Wellness Center Arena in Lakewood, N.J. The women will take on the Lions at 1 p.m. followed by the men's game at 3 p.m. 

JEFFERSON WOMEN

LAST TIME OUT
The Jefferson women suffered their first loss of the season on Wednesday evening to the Kutztown Golden Bears on the road, 73-69. The loss ended Jefferson's six-game winning streak to begin the 2017-18 season. Junior transfer Beverly Kum led the Rams with a game-high 21 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. Senior Rachel Day put up 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor.

LOOKING AT GEORGIAN COURT
The Georgian Court women are 2-4 on the season after defeating Salem International, 61-59, and Mercy, 75-60. Jaelyn Tweedy is leading the team with an average of 13.8 points per game.

JEFFERSON MEN

LAST TIME OUT
The Jefferson men are currently 4-5 on the season. The Rams dropped a one-point affair to Kutztown on Tuesday, Nov. 28 by a final score of 67-66. Senior Yevgen Sakhniuk scored a game-high 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting including six rebounds. Sophomore Josh Bradanese finished with 16 points including four made three-pointers and five rebounds. Freshman Alexander Gorton had 10 points on the evening with four rebounds and four assists.

LOOKING AT GEORGIAN COURT
The Georgian Court Lions are 0-8 on the season. Caleb Bowser is leading the team with an average of 10.6 points per game.

NEXT UP
The Jefferson women and men return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 5 for their first home conference doubleheader against Chestnut Hill from the Gallagher Center. The women will start at 6 p.m. with their Military Appreciation Game followed by the men at 8 p.m.
