LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – Led by Nicholas Nguyen (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin), the Philadelphia University men's golf team defeated the University of the Sciences and Stockton University in its final home tri-match of the season at The ACE Club on Wednesday.
Philadelphia turned in its second-best score at The ACE Club this spring with a 334 to win the event by 19 strokes over runner-up USciences (353) and 23 over third-place Stockton (357).
Nguyen was the individual winner of the tri-match with a round of 76 (+4), his third-lowest score in the nine events at the Rams' home golf course this season.
Peter Mahal (Great Meadows, N.J./Hackettstown) turned in a scorecard of 84 (+12) to finish in a tie for third place. In his first home event of the year, Nick Geracimos (Chesapeake City, Md./Bohemia Manor) was the fifth-place finisher with a score of 86 (+14). Thomas Lucci (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) completed the Rams' team score with an 88 (+16), finishing in a tie for sixth.
Jacob Williams (Mohrsville, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) finished his day in 13th place after a round of 96 (+24).
Austin Staiano was the Devils' top player with a second-place score of 83 (+11) and Connor Gillespie was Stockton's leading player as he tied Mahal for third place.
Philadelphia's next competition is the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spring Invitational at the GlenRiddle Golf Club on April 15-17.
