MIDDLETOWN, Del. – The Philadelphia University finishes the 2015-16 season by coming in ninth place after second and final day of action at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Wednesday at the Back Creek Golf Course.
After posting a score of 336 on the tournament's opening day, Philadelphia improved by four strokes on Wednesday with a 332 to finish the event with a two-day score of 668 (+100). The Rams were one of only four teams to shoot a lower score over the final 18 holes.
Nicholas Nguyen (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) turned in a card of 76 (+5), the eighth-best round of the day, to lead the Rams on day two and climb 17 spots in the standings. He ended up as Philadelphia's highest finisher with the 14th-place score of 159 (+17).
Peter Mahal (Great Meadows, N.J./Hackettstown) completed his second round with a 79 (+8), a four-stroke improvement over day one, to move up eight positions and finish in 23rd with a two-day score of 162 (+20). Jayson Gonzalez-Adams (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico/Colegio Rosa-Bell) had a second-round score of 86 (+15) to end up at 169 (+27) for the tournament and finish in 35th.
Thomas Lucci (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) completed the team's scoring in the event after shooting a 91 (+20) to finish with a two-day score of 178 (+36). Lucci finished in 47th.
Austin Regan (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) ended up in 48th place with a combined score of 190 (+48), shooting a 99 (+28) on Wednesday.
Wilmington (Del.) University won the conference championship with a two-day score of 599 (+31). Felician University's Andrew Geesey claimed the individual title after shooting 145 (+3) during the championship.
