WILMINGTON, Del. – Jayson Gonzalez-Adams (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico/Colegio Rosa-Bell) shot a round of 79 (+8) to finish in a tie for 16th and lead the Philadelphia University men's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the Swarthmore Fall Invitational Sunday afternoon at the par-71 Rock Manor Golf Club.
Philadelphia had a combined team score of 333 (+49) in the nine-team field. The Rams finished four strokes ahead of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference rival the University of the Sciences.
Nicholas Nguyen (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) turned in a card of 81 (+10) to finish in a deadlock for the 21st position. Nguyen's round also included a pair of eagles, the first on the par-5 10th hole and the second on the par-5 18th.
Peter Mahal (Great Meadows, N.J./Hackettstown) finished one stroke behind Nguyen with an 82 (+11) and ended up in 25th place. Thomas Lucci (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) and Austin Regan (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) both had a round of 91 (+20) to end their day in a tie for 40th.
Swarthmore's Dan Altieri claimed first place in the 46-golfer event with a round of even-par 71. Cabrini won the team title as the Cavaliers had a score of 298 (+14).
Philadelphia returns to action with a tri-match against USciences and Alvernia at the ACE Club on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
