Men's golf finishes third against Alvernia and USciences

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – The Philadelphia University men's golf team came in third place in a home tri-match against Alvernia University and the University of the Sciences Wednesday afternoon at The ACE Club.

Philadelphia had a team score of 346 on a rainy, breezy Wednesday afternoon. Alvernia owned the winning team score with a 328, while USciences claimed second with a 345.

Thomas Lucci (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) led Philadelphia with a round of 79 (+7) to finish in fourth overall. Peter Mahal (Great Meadows, N.J./Hackettstown) finished four strokes behind Lucci with an 83 (+11) and wound up in a deadlock for seventh place. Nick Geracimos (Chesapeake City, Md./Bohemia Manor) placed 11th as he carded an 89 (+17).

Austin Regan (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) and Jacob Williams (Mohrsville, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) both shot a 95 (+23) to end their day in a tie for 13th place.

Kyle Zeller (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) competed in the tri-match as an individual and completed his round with an 86 (+14) to finish tied for ninth.

USciences' Austin Staiano and Andy Ring both had the best round of the day, shooting 76 (+4).

Philadelphia heads to New York on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 to compete in the 9th Annual Charger Challenge, hosted by Dominican College, at the Spook Rock Golf Club.
