LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – Thomas Lucci (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) turned in his best round of the season, two-over par 74, to claim a share of first place in a tri-match with Dickinson College and St. Joseph's (N.Y.) College Monday afternoon at The ACE Club. The Rams finished in third place.
Lucci's round of 74 eclipses his previous best round of 78, which came in the first tri-match of the season on Sept. 19, 2016, and ties teammate Nicholas Nguyen (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) for the best round by a Ram this year. It was Lucci's third round in the 70s.
Peter Mahal (Great Meadows, N.J./Hackettstown) completed his day with a score of 83 (+11) to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place. Austin Regan (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) had his second-best round of the season, 87 (+15), and ended up in a tie for 11th. Kyle Zeller (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) was the final Ram to contribute to the team score as he turned in a card of 95 (+23), good for a 14th-place finish.
Jacob Williams (Mohrsville, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) shot a 96 (+24) to come in 15th place.
Playing in his first competition of the spring, Michael Grosso (Aston, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) took to the course as an individual and had his second-best round of the year with an 85 (+12). Grosso finished in 10th overall.
Philadelphia had a team score of 339, one stroke behind St. Joseph's for second place. Dickinson posted the winning team score of 313.
Dickinson's Charlie Zane tied Lucci for first place.
Philadelphia travels to the Back Creek Golf Creek on Tuesday, April 11 for a tri-match with Wilmington University and Nyack College.
