Golf sits eighth after day one of CACC Championship

MIDDLETOWN, Del. – The Philadelphia University men's golf team sits in eighth place after the first day of action in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship on a rainy Tuesday afternoon at the par-71 Back Creek Golf Course.

The Rams fought through rainy conditions, which included a two-hour weather delay, to put together a team score of 335 (+71).

Peter Mahal (Great Meadows, N.J./Hackettstown) had Philadelphia's best round as he birdied the par-4 6th and 13th holes to finish with a score of 83 (+12). Mahal is currently in a six-way tie for 21st place.

Nicholas Nguyen (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) carded an 88 (+17) to be ranked all alone in 37th. Jayson Gonzalez-Adams (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico/Colegio Rosa Bell) is in the 41st position after shooting a 91 (+20). Thomas Lucci (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) is currently in Philadelphia's final scoring posting after shooting 93 (+22), which places him in 44th.

Nick Geracimos (Chesapeake City, Md./Bohemia Manor) shot 104 (+33) to sit in 46th place.

After the first day of play, Dominican (N.Y.) is leading the team competition with a score of 312 (+28). The individual leader is Nyack's Elliot Wakefield who eagled 16th and aced 17th to turn in a card of 70 (-1).

The Rams begin the second and final day of the Championship on Wednesday, April 26 at 9:10 a.m.
