CALDWELL, N.J. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's soccer team (2-2, 2-0 CACC) scored four goals including three in the second half to defeat the Caldwell Cougars (2-4, 0-2 CACC) by a final of 4-0 for the squad's second conference win on the young season.
The team's four goals were the most in a match by the Rams since the team defeated Felician, 5-2, back on Oct. 10, 2015.
The Rams took a season-high 19 shots in tonight's victory in New Jersey led by sophomore Musa Kalombe, junior Jason Rocha, senior Seiji Rose and sophomore Myles-Jordan Senior-Campbell with three each.
Rocha started the scoring for Jefferson after playing a cross in the box, chipping it past the Cougar keeper to put the Rams up 1-0 in the 20th minute.
Late in the second half, Jefferson added three goals in less than nine minutes.
In the 80th minute, Senior-Campbell scored an unassisted goal to put Jefferson up 2-0 before Rose added his first of the year on a free kick from 20 yards out.
Kalombe closed out the scoring with the team's fourth goal in the 89th minute after freshman Theophilus Ijeboi crossed the ball through the box to set up Kalombe. Ijeboi garnered his first collegiate assist on the play.
Senior Ben Sauer recorded his eighth career shutout, and first since his sophomore season, making four saves on the night.
The Rams return home after three-straight roads matches that will see them play Georgian Court in a CACC affair on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 2:30 p.m.
