NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Jefferson men's soccer team won three of the four weekly awards given out by the CACC on Monday afternoon. Seniors Pedro Neto, Seiji Rose and Ben Sauer were all honored by the conference. The news was announced by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference office.
Neto was named CACC Player of the Week for the first time while Rose earned CACC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second-straight week. Sauer picked up CACC Goalkeeper of the Week for the first time in 2017.
The Rams (5-2) defeated Georgian Court, 2-0, Molloy, 3-2, and Dominican, 3-2, last week in the 3-0 overall and 2-0 CACC week.
PEDRO NETO – CACC MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Neto scored two goals in the men's three-match week, one at Molloy and one at Dominican. His goal on Saturday at Dominican came in the 90th minute of action for the game winner after a late comeback by the Rams that featured the equalizer in the 88th minute of the 3-2 victory.
SEIJI ROSE – CACC MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rose led Jefferson with five points last week including one goal and three assists. He ranks tied for first on the squad with four assists and eight points on the campaign. He assisted on Neto's game-winning goal at Dominican.
BEN SAUER – CACC MEN'S SOCCER GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Sauer went 3-0 in goal with victories over Georgian Court, Molloy and Dominican last week. He posted his second shutout of the season against GCU, making a career high nine saves. It also came as his ninth career shutout. He allowed just four goals in the three-match week, playing all 270 minutes.
