PHILADELPHIA - The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's soccer team (6-2-0 5-0-0 CACC) defeated the Holy Family Tigers (1-8-0, 0-5-0 CACC) with a final score of 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Ravenhill Field.
Jefferson took an early lead during the first half. In the 13th minute, junior Jason Rocha took a shot at close range and scored an unanswered goal with an assist from sophomore Musa Kalombe. The Rams remained in the lead at the end of the first half with a score of 1-0.
During the second half, the Rams and Tigers played an intense match but Jefferson managed to keep the lead and win the game. This win is the fifth-straight win for the Rams.
The Jefferson defense only allowed two shots on goal by Holy Family and senior keeper Ben Sauer saved both to shutout the Tigers. Sauer's shutout came as his third of the season and 10th of his career.
Jefferson continued to have a strong offense but were unlucky and did not add to their one-score lead. Jefferson outshot Holy Family 26-8.
The Rams men's soccer team will head over to New Jersey to take on the Felician University Golden Falcons on Saturday Sept. 30. The game is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m.
