PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) men's soccer team (12-3-1, 10-0-1 CACC) grabbed its 10th conference victory of the season with a 3-0 shutout win over the Nyack Warriors (6-9-1, 4-7-0 CACC) from Ravenhill Field on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day.
Rose notched his ninth and 10th assists of the year while Neto netted his fourth game-winning goal and third-straight game-winning goal.
Rose connected with Neto in the 39th minute of action for the game's first goal. Rose served up a corner which Neto headed near the far post, 1-0. For Neto, it was his fifth goal of the campaign.
With a 1-0 lead at the half, Jefferson extended the match to a two-goal advantage in the 47th minute when Rose crossed a ball to Myles-Jordan Senior-Campbell who finished the play near the goal line, 2-0.
Jefferson led shots, 20-13, in the match including shots on goal, 12-4.
Senior keeper Ben Sauer (W, 12-3-1) and the Jefferson defense recorded their second-straight shutout and seventh of the season in the victory. For Sauer, seven shutouts this season matched his total as a sophomore back in 2015. It also came as his 14th of his career.
Sophomore Rashaan Robe played a key part in helping the Rams keep the shutout intact early on with a team save on the goal line in the 23rd minute.
Rose and Rocha now sit tied atop the team's leaderboard with 18 points in 2017.
Making a quick turnaround, Jefferson Men's Soccer now hosts Bloomsburg in a makeup, nonconference matchup on Monday, Oct. 23 at 2:30 p.m. from Ravenhill Field. The match was originally set for early September.
