NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Philadelphia University women's basketball forward Erin Rafter (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) capped off her 2016-17 campaign by taking home the final Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) defensive player of the week award of the season Monday.
Rafter had a dominant week in the paint for the Rams that allowed her to average 10.0 defensive rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 3.5 blocks in two games. She started off the week with 10 defensive rebounds, three blocked shots, and two steals to help Philadelphia defeat Wilmington (Del.) 81-74 on Feb. 21 and secure a CACC Tournament spot. In the first round of the conference tournament, Rafter racked up 10 defensive rebounds, a career-high four blocked shots, and two steals in a season-ending 62-49 loss to Caldwell on Feb. 25.
Overall, she averaged 12.5 points and 15.0 rebounds last week.
Rafter appeared in 13 of the final 14 games during the 2016-17 season, averaged 7.7 points and a team-high 8.4 rebounds per game. She ranked 10th in the CACC with a team-best 20 blocked shots.
Philadelphia finished the season with a 14-15 overall record and a 9-10 conference mark. The Rams made the CACC Tournament for the 11th straight season.
