PHILADELPHIA – In the month of October, former point guard Bria Young ('15) of the Rams' women's basketball team will be hosting a shoe drive to help support individuals in developing nations while also funding a free basketball camp for inner city children next summer.
Any pair of shoes can be donated for the drive, whether gently worn, used or new.
The drive starts Sunday, October 1 and runs through the end of the month.
The Jefferson Athletic Department will have a drop off location in the lobby of the Gallagher Center. Three other locations around Philadelphia will also be available for drop off:  5835 Osage Ave,  3421 Richmond Street and  Chink's Barber Shop (corner of 59th and Osage Ave).
Shoes will be donated to developing nations such as Ghana, Haiti and Bolivia, which will in turn help Young fund a free youth basketball camp for inner city children in the summer of 2018.

A native of Philadelphia, Young scored 1,067 career points as a three-year starting point guard for the Rams. Young's many accolades include first team all-league, first team all-region and co-MVP and Defensive Player of the Year of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
Following her Rams' career, she joined the 2017 Harlem Globetrotters team, becoming the 14th female player in the team's 90-year history.
