Jefferson Women’s Basketball Tabbed to Finish Second in the CACC South Division

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's basketball was picked to finish second in the CACC South Division on Wednesday afternoon. The 2017-18 polls were decided upon by the 14 coaching staffs in the conference. The news was announced by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Office.

Jefferson earned 73 points and one first-place vote in the South Division behind USciences (97 points, 13 first-place votes). Chestnut Hill rounded out the top three with 70 points. Caldwell earned 12 first-place votes and 96 points to top the North Division.

Last season, the Rams went 14-15 and 9-10 in conference play. The squad earned a CACC Tournament berth but fell in the quarterfinals to Caldwell.

Jefferson is led by head Coach Tom Shirley, who enters his 29th season with a 722-342 career record and a 573-269 mark with the Rams.

Jefferson begins its 2017-18 season on Saturday, Nov. 11 and Sunday, Nov. 12 with the Jefferson Challenge at the Gallagher Center. The Rams will face off against Queens (N.Y.) and Molloy.
