NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Redshirt freshman Caitlyn Cunningham and junior Beverly Kum of the Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's basketball team earned CACC weekly honors on Monday afternoon. Cunningham was named the CACC Rookie of the Week while Kum earned CACC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Redshirt junior Erin Maher was named to the conference honor roll. The news was announced by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference office.
The women opened the 2017-18 season with wins over Queens (N.Y.), 60-54, and Molloy, 71-47, in East Region Conference Challenge matchups at the Gallagher Center this past Saturday and Sunday.
CAITLYN CUNNINGHAM – CACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
The redshirt freshman led the Rams with 12.5 points per game in the squad's first two contests of 2017-18. Off the bench, Cunningham scored 13 points against Queens (N.Y.) and 12 points against Molloy in the squad's 2-0 opening weekend.
BEVERLY KUM – CACC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kum grabbed a total of 18 rebounds in wins over Queens and Molloy this weekend. Playing in her first two games for the Rams, the junior transfer also blocked two shots.
Erin Maher led the team with a .636 shooting percentage, going 7-of-11 from the floor in two games for 11.0 points per game, good for second on the team. She was also 4-of-4 from three-point range.
Jefferson Women's Basketball returns to action at home from the Gallagher Center on Wednesday, Nov. 15 against Bridgeport at 6 p.m.
