Mower, Dunne earn CACC weekly accolades

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Midfielder Liz Mower (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) and attack Laura Dunne (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) each played a big role in helping the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team pick up three wins last week. The two were by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for their effort Monday as Mower was named the CACC player of the week and Dunne was tabbed the CACC rookie of the week.

The conference player of the week for the second straight week, Mower led the Rams with 13 goals and 18 points in victories over Kutztown, Georgian Court, and Post to extend her point streak to six.

She opened the week with four goals, one assist, and two ground balls in the 11-6 victory at Kutztown on March 29. Mower came back 24 hours later to put up two goals and three assists as Philadelphia defeated Georgian Court 15-11 in the conference opener. Against Post on April 2, Mower found the back of the net seven times, tying a career high, dished out one assist, and won a match-high seven draw controls in a 19-4 triumph.

Mower is sitting second in the CACC with 28 goals and 40 points, and third with 12 assists. She is leading the team in all three categories. A conference-high 14 goals have come from free position opportunities. Mower also has 14 draw controls and 12 ground balls.

Dunne racked up five goals and two assists to increase her point streak to five. She recorded a goal and an assist against Kutztown and Georgian Court. Dunne ended the week with her first career hat trick in the win over Post.

She ranks fourth on the team in goals (8) and points (10).

Philadelphia (5-2, 2-0 CACC) returns to action with a CACC contest against Holy Family on Tuesday, April 5 at 4:30 p.m. on Ravenhill Field.
