PHILADELPHIA – Senior midfielder Liz Mower (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) scored her 200th career goal and the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team turned in its best defensive performance in 13 years in a 23-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Felician Monday afternoon.
Mower—who recorded her 300th point 24 hours earlier—became the program's all-time goals leader and the first Ram to record 200 goals with the first of three goals, coming at the 27:34 mark of the first half to make the score 4-0. She passed Melissa DerPilbosian—who scored 199 goals from 1994 through 1998—for top spot on the all-time list.
On the defensive side, Philadelphia (11-4, 8-0 CACC) didn't allow a shot at goalie Corrine Etter (Millville, N.J./Millville) as the Rams recorded its first shutout since blanking Arcadia 22-0 on April 3, 2003.
The 23-goal margin of victory is the largest since Philadelphia defeated Chestnut Hill 28-3 on April 23, 2003.
Laura Dunne (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) recorded a career-high 10 points, five goals and five assists, to lead the Rams—who had 10 different players score a goal. Mower racked up three goals and five assists despite not playing in the second half.
Elizabeth Seitzinger (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) added four goals and one assist, while Alyssa Matthews, Kathryn Avanzato (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North), and Katelyn Miller (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) scored twice.
Caroline Noebels (Hightstown, N.J./Hightstown), Isabella DiGnazio (Parkland, Pa./Peters Twp.), Jaid Mark (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove), and Madeline Haas (Blue Bell, Pa./Mount St. Joseph Academy) all added one goal. DiGnazio led the team with six draw controls.
Philadelphia—a winner of nine in a row—welcomes Chestnut Hill to Ravenhill Field for a CACC showdown to determine the conference's regular season champion on Wednesday, April 27 at 4:30 p.m.
