DiGnazio scored twice in women’s lacrosse’s 18-3 loss at NYIT

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – Isabella DiGnazio (Pittsburgh, Pa./Peters Twp.) recorded two goals, three draw controls, two ground balls, and a caused turnover for the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team in an 18-3 loss at NYIT Saturday afternoon in President's Stadium.

After being held off the scoreboard during the first half, DiGnazio got the Rams (0-3) in the goal column at the 24:24 mark of the second half with a free position goal to make the score 14-1. Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) notched an unassisted goal, her second of the year, with 18 minutes left. DiGnazio scored for the second time, third of 2017, with 8:26 to play to bring the Rams within 15-3.

Sarah von Lange (Marriottsville, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) added four draw controls and two ground balls.

NYIT (6-1) received a game-high four goals and two draw controls from Alyssa Milano. Karie Znaniecki contributed a game-high seven points (three goals, four assists), while Katie Meinecke tallied five points (three goals, two assists).

Victoria Raimondi (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) recorded a career-high 12 saves in net for Philadelphia. The NYIT tandem Lauren Young and Ashley Miller each stopped one shot. Young played the opening 38:25 to earn the win.

Philadelphia will host St. Thomas Aquinas in its home opener on Wednesday, March 22 at 4:30 p.m.
