Women's soccer upended by LIU Post, 1-0

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat to visiting LIU Post in a non-conference match played Wednesday on Ravenhill Field.

The Pioneers' (6-2-1) Andrea Huntzinger broke the scoreless deadlock at the 66:01 mark as she found an opening in the Ram defense 25 yards away from goal. Huntzinger chipped her shot across the goal mouth and over the head of Philadelphia keeper Deanna Messner (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) into the left side of the net.

Philadelphia (3-5-1) attempted five shots at the LIU Post net during the contest, including a Brooke Haden (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck) attempt with 15 seconds left in regulation that sailed just over the crossbar.

Messner finished the match with six saves, her second-highest save total of the season. LIU Post's Hillevi Eklow was not called upon to make a stop over the 90 minutes.

Philadelphia returns to action with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match at Concordia (N.Y.) on Saturday, Oct. 8 at noon.
