Women's soccer ends regular season with 1-0 loss to Mercy

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Philadelphia University women's soccer team completed the regular season with a 1-0 non-conference loss to Mercy College on Thursday afternoon.

The Rams—who had their winning streak stopped at four—finish the regular season with an overall record of 9-7-1.

Philadelphia is the number four seed for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament and will host fifth-seeded Wilmington in the opening round on Monday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. on Ravenhill Field. The Rams won the lone regular season meeting between the teams, 1-0 on Oct. 18 in Philadelphia.

Mercy (12-3-1) scored the match's only goal at the 15:31 mark when Alyssa Iannuzzi found the back of the net. Dominique Banks and Trista Seara both earned an assist on the goal.

The goal ended Philadelphia's shutout streak at 436 minutes, 13 seconds.

Philadelphia's Deanna Messner (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) stopped four shots, while Mercy's Ashley Price recorded two saves. The Mavericks owned a 16-2 shot advantage.
