Women's soccer drops CACC Championship Quarterfinal game to Wilmington, 2-1

PHILADELPHIA - Midfielder Alexa Karakitsios (Sickerville, N.J./Timber Creek) scored her second collegiate goal in the first half of Monday's 2-1 loss to Wilmington (Del.) in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Quarterfinal.

After Wilmington scored their first goal in ther 37th minute of the first half, Karakitsios took a shot from 25 yards out that landed in the back of the net to tie the game at one. Dena Noiseux (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) was credited with the assist.

Late in the second half, Teigha Ward from Wilmington scored off a rebound to give the Wildcats the lead 2-1 with just a couple minutes left in the second half. With the victory Wilmington will face #1 seeded Georgian Court in the CACC Championship Semifinal Friday, Nov. 4th at Georgian Court University.

Philadelphia keeper Denna Messner (Willow Grove, Pa. Archbishop Wood) recorded seven saves for the Rams.

The Wildcats owned a 14-8 shot advantage over the Rams.

Philadelphia concludes their season with an overall record of 9-8-1, 8-3-1 CACC.
