Women’s Soccer Falls at Millersville in Opener, 3-0

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's soccer team (0-1) fell to Millersville in Millersville, Pa. on Thursday evening by a final of 3-0 in the 2017 season opener.

The Marauders used three second-half goals to take control of the contest. All three goals came within a seven-minute span from the 53rd minute to the 60th minute.

Millersville's Stacie Hallinan scored the first goal on a header after a free kick by Alyssa Antonelly from outside the box. Roughly two minutes later, Kay Liebl scored to make it 2-0 after a corner from Rachel Beri. The third and final goal came off the foot of Delaney Meadows with 30 minutes left to play in the affair.

Junior Chanel D'Angelo (New Hope, Pa. / New Hope-Solebury), sophomore Erin Sullivan (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill West) and freshman Sarah Patrignani (Franklinville, N.J. / Vineland) managed all six Jefferson shots in the game.

Junior keeper Erin Tinneny (Collegeville, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley) took the loss in goal for the Rams, making two saves across 90 minutes.

Jefferson returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 2 for the Rams' home opener against Queens (N.Y.) from Ravenhill Field at noon.
