Goal Spree Powers Women’s Soccer Over Concordia on Homecoming, 5-1

PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's soccer team (7-4, 6-2 CACC) defeated the Concordia Clippers (1-10, 1-7 CACC) on Saturday afternoon on Homecoming Weekend in front of a large crowd at Ravenhill Field by a 5-1 final.

It marks the most goals for the Rams since they defeated Bloomfield 5-0 last October.

Jefferson took a 2-0 lead into halftime, controlling the tempo of the conference affair on Saturday.

Junior Katie Neveil started the scoring in the 31st minute when senior Amy Heller played a free kick. Heller crossed it to Neveil before the junior put it in from close range, 1-0.

Sophomore Alexa Karakitsios put the Rams up 2-0 when sophomore MaryKate Ulmer made a pass to the left side of the box to find Karakitsios. Karakitsios used her left foot to place it on the far post for the goal.

Jefferson led shots 13-1 in the opening 45 minutes and the second half was much the same as the Rams owned the advantage on shots 24-4 after 90 minutes. Of those 24, 15 were on target for Jefferson while just three were on goal for the Clippers.

In the 56th minute, sophomore Dena Noiseux made it 3-0 when she stole a pass at midfield, taking it all the way through the box to beat the Concordia keeper on the left side.

In the 78th minute, sophomore Kayla West gave the Rams a four-goal advantage when freshman Melissa Brady made a pass into the box for West.

The fifth and final goal for Jefferson came from sophomore Erin Sullivan in the 87th minute on as unassisted free kick from the right side of the field near the corner.

In the final minute of action, the Clippers got on the board when Sara Calvert made it 5-1.

Junior Erin Tinneny (W, 7-4) made one save on the day in 61:55 minutes of action. Freshman Arielle Marcum played the next 14:17 minutes, making one save. Fellow freshman Danielle Samson closed out the final 13:48 minutes, allowing one goal.
