NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Strong showings at the season-opening Stockton Invitational helped Emilie Barton (Sterling, Ill./Newman Central Catholic) and Lindsey Carl (Berwick, Pa./Central Columbia) earn Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) recognition on Monday. Barton was selected as the CACC women's track athlete of the week, while Carl was tabbed as the field rookie of the week.
Barton opened her spring season with a runner-up finish in the 5,000-meter run after posting a time of 19 minutes, 25.44 seconds, the second-best time of her career in the event. Her second-place finish scored eight of Philadelphia's 18 points.
Carl got her career off to a flying start, going out and winning the high jump with a height of 1.64 meters (5 feet, 4.5 inches) to score 10 points for the team. She won the event after clearing 1.64 meters on the final of her three attempts.
Philadelphia returns to action in the Danny Curran Invitational on April 1-2 at Widener University.
