LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Philadelphia University women's track won three events at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship to finish in third place overall on a rainy Sunday at Georgian Court University.
Led by the three wins and strong overall performances in the distance events, the Rams accumulated 95 points. Georgian Court won the conference championship with 238 points, while Caldwell had the runner-up score of 132 points.
Victoria Frisbie (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) had a solid day at the conference championship as she won the 5,000-meter run and came in second in the 1,500-meter run, setting career bests in both events, to score 18 points for the Rams. In the 5,000, Frisbie completed the event in 19 minutes, 27.68 seconds to win the race by just over three seconds. She had the runner-up time of 5:04.11 in the 1,500.
Frisbie was one of four Rams to score points in the 1,500 as Stephanie Watson (Newport, Vt./North Country Union), Erin Raup (Danville, Pa./Danville Area), and Maddie Conway (Glen Mills, Pa./Penncrest) all finished inside the top seven. Watson led the trio with the fifth-place time of 5:11.17. Raup edged out Conway for sixth by .03 seconds with Raup finishing in a season-best time of 5:19.36 and Conway posting a 5:19.39.
In the 5,000, Watson was the race's runner up with a season-best time of 19:30.76. Emilie Barton (Sterling, Ill./Newman Central Catholic) tacked on five points as she finished in fourth with a time of 19:44.31. Conway crossed the finish line in ninth with a time of 20:43.74.
Barton also competed in the 10,000-meter run for the first time this season and won the race with a personal-best time of 41:53.88, nearly 46 seconds ahead of the runner up. Maria Santangelo (Abington, Pa./AIM Academy) added two points to Philadelphia's score in the 10,000 by posting the seventh-place time of 48:11.86.
Victoria Hochuli (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Oceanside) recorded the Rams' third victory of the day with a personal-best time of 1:13.57 in the 400-meter hurdles. She added a fifth-place finish, to bring home another four points, by completing the 100-meter hurdles in 17.65, a personal best.
Watson and Raup both scored points with third and seventh place finishes, respectively, in the 800-meter run. Watson's time was 2:28.86 gave the Rams six points, while Raup scored two points with a 2:37.59. Conway was ninth in the event after finishing the race in 2:40.48.
Gypsy Blue Cooper (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) was the third-place finisher in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a 13:31.55 for six additional points.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Lindsey Carl (Berwick, Pa./Central Columbia), Devin Cuevas, Hochuli, and Conway came in sixth place with a time of 4:34.80 for three more points. Carl, Cuevas, Hochuli, and Clarissa Kelsey (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) competed as a team in the 4x100-meter relay and had the seventh-place time of 58.76 to score two points.
Carl was responsible for 10 points in the field events. She scored six points in the high jump as she came in third with a height of 1.57 meters (5 feet, 1.75 inches). In her first time competing in the shot put, Carl took fifth with a distance of 9.05 meters (29' 8.25"), which came on her fourth of six attempts.
