WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Sophomore Lindsey Carl (Berwick, Pa./Central Columbia) won the high jump to highlight the Philadelphia University women's track & field team's Saturday at the West Chester University Invitational.
Carl claimed her first win of the season in the high jump with a season-best height of 5 feet, 2.25 inches (1.58 meters). It was the third best jump of her career.
She also took part in the shot put and discus for the first time in 2017. Carl recorded an 18th-place finish in the discus with a throw of 82'6" (25.14 meters) and the 19th-best distance of 28'4.25" (8.64 meters) in the shot put.
Stephanie Watson (Newport, Vt./North Country Union) and Meghan Horan (Honey Brook, Pa./Twin Valley) both posted top-10 times in the 41-runner 1,500-meter run. Watson ran the race in 5:03.00—Philadelphia's fastest time in the event this season and the best time of her career. She took third place overall. Horan, running the 1,500 for the first time, was 10th with a time of 5:17.43.
Victoria Frisbie (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) claimed third place out of 23 runners in the 5,000-meter run with a season-best time of 19:58.36.
In the 800-meter run, Watson set a personal-best as she completed the race in 2:27.49 to take 10th. Her time is a team-best this year.
Competing for the first time this season, Victoria Hochuli (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Oceanside) had a strong day in the hurdles. Hochuli recorded a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.35. In the 100-meter hurdles, Hochuli had the 10th-place time of 17.62.
Rachel Meier (Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug) recorded an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:04.21 It was her first competition of the season. Hochuli crossed the finish line in 13th with a 1:06.30.
Philadelphia will head to Pomona, N.J. on April 14-15 to take part in the Osprey Open at Stockton University.
