NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Philadelphia University sophomore outside hitter Courtney Wensel (Bechtelsville, Pa./Berks Catholic) was tabbed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) co-player of the week by the conference office Tuesday morning.
Wensel—who shares this week's award with Post University's Hailey Griffin—averaged 10.6 kills, while hitting .165, 13.0 digs, and 3.6 service aces during a perfect 3-0 week—2-0 against the CACC—for the Rams.
She opened the week with 12 kills, a .286 attack percentage, a season-high 17 digs, and three aces in Philadelphia's 3-0 victory over Millersville on Sept. 13. In the first CACC match of the season, Wensel racked up six kills, 12 digs, and a season-best five aces as the Rams swept the University of the Sciences on Sept. 16. She came back one day later to record a match-high 14 kills, 10 digs, and three aces in a 3-1 win at Caldwell.
Through 12 matches this season, Wensel is leading the Rams in kills (139), kills per set (3.39), and service aces (25). She is third on the team in digs (145). In the CACC rankings, she sits first in aces, fourth in points per set (4.1), fifth in kills, sixth in kills per set, sixth in digs, and 16th in digs per set (3.54).
Philadelphia (9-3, 2-0 CACC) travels to Wilmington (Del.) for a CACC southern division battle on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.
