Wensel, Cadzow take home CACC women's volleyball weekly awards

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Philadelphia University outside hitters Courtney Wensel (Bechtelsville, Pa./Berks Catholic) and Mariah Cadzow (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) played key roles in a pair of Ram victories last week, and were recognized by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) on Monday. Wensel was selected as the CACC player of the week and Cadzow was tabbed as the conference's rookie of the week.

The player of the week for the second consecutive week, Wensel averaged 18.0 kills and 22.5 digs, while hitting .137. In a 3-2 win at Wilmington (Del.) on Sept. 21, Wensel racked up a match-high 18 kills, 21 digs and two service aces. She recorded a match-best 18 kills, a .232 attack percentage, and a team-high 24 digs in a four-set win over defending CACC Post on Sept. 24.

Wensel is leading the CACC with 28 service aces. She is also ranked fifth in kills (175) and service aces per set (0.56), sixth in digs (190) and kills per set (3.50), and 11th in digs per set (3.80).

Cadzow—now a two-time CACC rookie of the week—had 12.0 kills, a .163 attack percentage, and 15.0 digs over the two matches. She had 12 kills, a .227 attack percentage, 14 digs and two service aces at Wilmington. In the win over Post, Cadzow contributed 12 kills, 16 digs, and two service aces.

In the CACC, Cadzow is currently 13th with 156 digs and 14th with 118 kills.

Philadelphia (11-3, 4-0 CACC)—a winner of seven in a row—returns to action on Friday, Sept. 30 with a CACC match at Goldey-Beacom at 7 p.m.
