PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) volleyball team (21-6, 16-1 CACC) defeated Holy Family (18-9, 13-4 CACC) in three sets on Thursday from HFU's Campus Center Gym.
The Rams are now winners of 10-straight matches.
Senior Corinne Justus hit .400 on the evening with seven kills, committing just one attack error.
Freshman Abigail Kress notched eight kills with a .381 hitting percentage.
Junior Courtney Wensel recorded her 16th double-double of the season behind match-highs in kills, 13, and digs, 17. The junior also had all three of Jefferson's service aces.
Freshman Logan Dontell have five total blocks on the night, two solo and three assists.
Trailing early in the first set, the Rams used a five-point run to go up 14-12 before using another five-point stretch to take a 23-17 lead to secure the first.
Down 3-1 in the second, Jefferson recorded 11 of 13 points to take a 12-5 advantage. The Tigers trimmed the lead down to three at 13-10 before the Rams went up by as many as 11 at 25-14.
Jefferson jumped out to a 7-0 edge in the third and final set. Holy Family fought back, going up 13-11. The Rams tied it up at 14-all before scoring 11 of the final 16 points to secure the victory.
Jefferson Volleyball returns to action at home from the Gallagher Center on Saturday, Nov. 4 (noon) against Georgian Court before closing out their regular-season home schedule on Senior Night on Monday, Nov. 6 (6 p.m.) against Lincoln (Pa.) in nonconference action. The regular season wraps up on Wednesday, Nov. 8 (7 p.m.) at Bloomfield in a CACC matchup.
