PHILADELPHIA – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) volleyball team (22-6, 17-1 CACC) swept the Georgian Court Lions (11-19, 9-8 CACC) in a conference matchup on Saturday afternoon from the Gallagher Center. The 25-19, 25-10, 25-16 victory comes as the 11th-straight for the Rams.
Sophomore Mariah Cadzow notched 11 kills with a .455 hitting percentage with just one error on 22 attacks.
Junior Courtney Wensel grabbed her 17th double-double of the campaign with 14 kills and 11 digs while hitting .393 on the afternoon.
Freshman Logan Dontell hit .545 in the victory behind seven kills on 11 attempts.
Senior Corinne Justus had six kills in the win with a .308 hitting percentage.
The Rams hit .344 as a team en route to the Saturday conference victory.
Jefferson trailed early in the first set at 12-5. After five-straight points, the Rams were within two at 12-10 before tying it up at 16-16. From there, the Rams scored nine of the next 12 points to win the first, 25-19.
The second set looked much different for the Rams, who continued their momentum from the first. After going up 12-5, Jefferson scored nine-straight points for a 20-5 advantage. The Rams closed the set with a four-point run, 25-10.
Jefferson went up big in the third and final set at 12-3 before extending it to 20-7. The Lions fought back to get within eight but the Rams closed it out, 25-16.
Jefferson Volleyball returns to action on Monday, Nov. 6 on Senior Night from the Gallagher Center in a nonconference matchup against Lincoln (Pa.). Action starts at 6 p.m.
