Volleyball Defeats Bloomfield, Earns Eighth-Straight Sweep to Close Regular Season

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) volleyball team (24-6, 18-1 CACC) swept the Bloomfield Bears (7-20, 6-12 CACC) on the road Wednesday evening in the Rams' regular-season finale, 25-18, 25-20, 25-13. The victory comes as the 13th-straight and the eighth-straight sweep. The Rams have not dropped a set since Tuesday, Oct. 17.

While Jefferson's 2017 regular-season slate is complete, the rest of the conference wraps up this Friday and Saturday to determine seeding for the CACC Championship.

The Rams hit .378 as a team in the evening win.

Junior Courtney Wensel notched 15 kills with a .412 hitting percentage. She eclipsed the 400-kill mark on the season for the second-straight year.

Freshmen Abigail Kress and Logan Dontell each recorded six kills. Kress hit .600 with no errors on 10 total attacks while Dontell had just one error with eight total attacks.

Senior Corinne Justus had a season-high seven solo blocks in the win. Each Justus, sophomore Mariah Cadzow and junior Alexandra Harrington had four kills.

Harrington also had 31 assists to bring her season assists per set average to 9.81, best in the CACC.

The No. 1 CACC South-seeded Rams will now wait to host a conference quarterfinals matchup against the No. 4-seeded team in the CACC North in the Gallagher Center on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.
