Justus, Wensel, Harrington Named Volleyball All-CACC, Moyer Earns Coach of the Year

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) volleyball team grabbed four honors when the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference announced year-end awards on Tuesday morning. Senior middle blocker Corinne Justus and junior outside hitter Courtney Wensel were named to the All-CACC First Team while junior setter Alexandra Harrington grabbed a spot on the All-CACC Second Team. Guiding the Rams to an 18-1 conference record and the overall top seed in the CACC Tournament, third-year head coach Tim Moyer was named the 2017 CACC Volleyball Coach of the Year. The news was announced by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference office.

CORINNE JUSTUS – ALL-CACC FIRST TEAM
The senior from Allentown, Pennsylvania was named to the All-CACC First Team for the third-straight year. Justus led the conference with a .338 hitting percentage on the 2017 season. The senior notched 244 kills in 538 total attacks with just 62 errors across 30 matches. Her 87 blocks were good for eighth in the CACC and second on the team. She finished with 23 solo blocks for sixth in the conference.

She currently owns a career hitting percentage of .300 and had 18 matches in 2017 with a hitting percentage of at least .300. She hit above .470 nine times on the campaign.

She was named to the Wilmington Invitational All-Tournament Team back in early September when she hit .478 against Adelphi with 13 kills, .500 against Franklin Pierce with 17 kills, .471 against American International with eight kills and .500 against Merrimack with eight kills.

Justus earned CACC Weekly Honor Roll status three times on the season.

COURTNEY WENSEL – ALL-CACC FIRST TEAM
Wensel finished the regular season with 410 kills and 389 digs. Her kill total ranked third in the conference and her 3.94 kills per set put her fifth best in the CACC. The junior had memorable match at Dominican on Saturday, Sept. 23 when she reached 1000 career kills and digs in the third set. On the program leaderboard, the Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania native now has 1217 career kills and 1199 career digs which places her second and eighth respectively all-time in Rams' history.

On the season, she was a three-time CACC Player of the Week and earned the nod to the weekly honor roll an additional five times. She also recorded 17 double-doubles. The senior ranked fourth in service aces in the conference with 47. This also comes as her second-straight All-CACC First Team honor after finishing on the top conference team a year ago as a sophomore.

ALEXANDRA HARRINGTON – ALL-CACC SECOND TEAM
Harrington led the CACC with 9.81 assists per set in 2017. Her total of 1010 assists ranked second in the conference. This is her second-straight year being named to the All-CACC Second Team and her second-straight year of collecting at least 1000 assists. Harrington has eight matches with at least 40 assists in 2017 and twice recorded 50-plus. She now has 2665 career assists for 8.71 assists per set.

TIM MOYER – CACC COACH OF THE YEAR
In his third season with the Rams, Moyer led the squad to an 18-1 conference mark for the second-straight year. Jefferson ended the 2017 regular season on a 13-matching winning streak with the last eight coming as sweeps. The Rams have not dropped a set since Tuesday, Oct. 17 in a 3-1 win at Goldey-Beacom. The team's last loss was on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at Chestnut Hill, the Rams' only conference loss. Across his three years, he has compiled a 74-18 regular-season record and 52-5 conference record entering the Rams' CACC Quarterfinals matchup with Bloomfield on Tuesday, Nov. 14.
