Assistant Coach Erin Donohue Places Second in 1500 at Olympic Trials; Qualifies for 2008 Olympics

Philadelphia University assistant cross country coach Erin Donohue finished second in the 1500 meters at the 2008 US Olympic Trials on Sunday afternoon, earning one of three spots for the US for the upcoming 2008 Olympics in Beijing.  Donohue, an assistant coach under Rams' mentor Dave Thomas, placed second in the event with a time of 4:08.20.

Entering the event Donohue was one of the top female runners in the country in the 1500 and did not disappoint at the trials, held in Eugene, Oregon.  In the quarterfinals on Thursday, July 3rd, the University of North Carolina product placed second in the second heat with a time of 4:16.84 to qualify for Friday's semifinals.  In the semifinals, Donohue turned in a time of 4:13.01 to place third in her heat, earning a spot in the finals.
