Women’s Cross Country Wins Fourth-Straight CACC Championship in 2017; Six Named All-CACC

NEWARK, Del. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's cross country team won its fourth-straight Central Atlantic College Conference (CACC) Championship and the program's ninth in the past 10 years on Sunday morning from White Clay Creek Park in Newark, Del.

Led by the 2017 CACC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year Dave Thomas, the Rams had six runners finish in the top-15 overall for All-CACC honors.

Freshman Kali Safer placed fourth overall and tops for Jefferson with a time of 19:59.8 (6:27 pace). As the top freshman finisher in the conference, Safer was named the CACC Rookie of the Year. It came as her third top-10 finish of the fall.

Senior Sarah Nellis finished second on the Rams and sixth overall, crossing the finish with a time of 20:10.3 (6:30 pace).

Jefferson then occupied the 12th to 15th place finishers to help secure the 2017 conference championship.

Freshman Jasmine Buckridge finished 12th overall with a time of 20:30.2 (6:37 pace) followed closely by sophomore Erin Young and Nicole Stough. Young owned a time of 20:31.0 (6:37 pace) with Stough at 20:32.3 (6:37 pace).

Senior Maddie Conway placed 15th overall to round out the All-CACC honorees with a time of 20:40.4 (6:40 pace).

Senior Erin Raup came in with a time of 21:15.5 (6:51 pace) for 22nd overall, besting her 28th place finish from a year ago.
